Azul Brazilian Airlines has named longtime CFO John Rodgerson as its new CEO, replacing Azul founder David Neeleman, who will remain with the São Paulo-based airline as chairman of its board of directors.
Neeleman said he will stay involved in day-to-day business and strategic decisions.
Neeleman, who also founded New York-based JetBlue Airways, founded Azul in 2008. The carrier initially operated an all-Embraer E-Jet fleet on domestic Brazil and regional South American flights, but expanded to long-haul flying in late 2014 after ordering Airbus A330s and A350s.
